  • Summer signing Aaron Ramsdale has started ahead of the German ever since
  • Arsenal are reportedly considering selling Leno during the January window

Arsenal will reportedly make goalkeeper Bernd Leno available for transfer after the German lost his place in the team to new signing Aaron Ramsdale.

There had been some confusion over the Gunners’ decision to sign Ramsdale for £30m from Sheffield United, with Leno already at the club.

But the 23-year-old English shot-stopper has started ahead of Leno in recent 1-0 victories against Norwich and Burnley.

Arsenal are considering offering Bernd Leno for transfer during the January transfer window

Eurosport have now reported that Mikel Arteta’s side could look to part ways with the German keeper, as the Spaniard aims to continue his overhaul of the squad in 2022.

It’s said that Ramsdale’s acquisition was in order to bring down the age of the squad while improving their homegrown core.

Now 29-year-old Leno is deemed unlikely to remain beyond this season and the club are open to offers for him once the window reopens in January.

Leno joined Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen for £22.5m back in the summer of 2018.

Since then he has gone on to make 120 appearances for the Gunners, keeping the number one spot ahead of the likes of Emiliano Martinez, Runar Alex Runarsson and Mat Ryan.

He also started Arsenal’s first three games of this season, all of which saw the Gunners suffer defeats.

Leno though has not played their 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City before the last international break with Ramsdale since stepping up in his place.
