Arsenal will speak to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over possible Covid rule breach after footage emerged of him getting a new hand tattoo… just days after the striker celebrated hat-trick against Leeds with the artist

  • The club will talk with Aubameyang to discuss ‘remind him of his responsibilities’

Arsenal are investigating whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has broken the club’s strict Covid-19 protocols.

There are suggestions that Aubameyang broke the lockdown rules and breached Arsenal’s secure bubble after tattoo artist Alejandro Nicolas Bernal posted a video of him tattooing the 31-year-old on social media.

It is believed the club are planning talks with their captain to discuss the situation and ‘remind him of his responsibilities’.

An Arsenal spokesperson told the PA news agency: ‘We will speak to the player to remind him of his responsibilities and establish what has taken place.’

The fact that Aubameyang added a new tattoo to is collection could be regarded as a direct breach of the government guidelines – which states that all mobile and static tattoo parlours must remain closed during the pandemic.

As it stands, Arsenal will be taking no further action until they speak to the player and determine where and when the incident took place.

The news comes shortly after Aubameyang took several weeks out in compassionate leave to spend time with his sick mother.

The Gunners skipper returned to Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up against Leeds and made an emphatic statement by scoring his first ever hat-trick in the Premier League.

Following the game, Aubameyang was greeted by Bernal – who filmed the striker smiling and dancing with his match ball.

Bernal then sang songs and laughed with the Gabonese forward, as the pair continued to celebrate his first hat-trick in England’s top flight.
