An arsonist may have suffered ‘significant injuries’ after he was caught in an explosion as he torched a luxury Porsche 4×4.

Police officers in Toronto, Canada, have released footage of the botched attack in a quiet suburb early on Friday morning in hopes of finding the suspect. 

The man is seen running over to what appears to be a $75,000 (£56,000) Porsche Cayenne, smashing the window and dousing the interior with petrol.

Police officers in Toronto, Canada, have released footage of the botched attack in a quiet suburb in hopes of finding the suspect.

But when he ignites the fuel he triggers an explosion which showers his face in broken glass and a sheet of flame.

A statement from the Toronto Police Service said officers are concerned the suspect may have suffered ‘significant injuries’.

The man fled the area in a white four-door sedan and is described as wearing a dark jacket, gloves and black boots.

The video, which was recorded by a CCTV camera at around 5:30am, has been released by cops as part of their investigation.
