As Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch divorce, the children whom she ‘blames for the split’

Jerry Hall and media mogul Rupert Murdoch have sensationally finalised their divorce – weeks after it was reported the former supermodel ‘blamed his children’ for the split.

Last night, it emerged the former supermodel, 66, and billionaire media mogul, 91, have settled their break-up agreement and ‘remain good friends’.

It comes weeks after it was claimed Jerry was ‘heartbroken’ over the breakdown of the relationship, with a source saying Rupert’s six children were ‘briefing against her.’

Rupert Murdoch has six children to three different women: Prudence MacLeod, 64, Elisabeth, 53, Lachlan, 50, James, 49, Grace, 21, and Chloe, 19.

At the time of their wedding six years ago, Jerry shared a snap of the children sitting together and wrote: ‘My beautiful family!’

However it appears relations between the two groups soured in the years to come.

Speaking to Mail+, an insider said: ‘They thought that Jerry was keeping them from him. She does blame the children for souring the marriage.

‘They had a lot to say about it and a role in his personal life which she found a nasty surprise. Clearly, they mistrusted her.’

Meanwhile Jerry has four of her own children, Georgia May Jagger, 30, Elizabeth Jagger, 38, Gabriel Jagger, 24, James Jagger, 36, whom she shares with her ex Mick Jagger.

And there appeared to be signs the two groups did not mix, with very few public joint appearances between the families following the wedding in 2015.

One of those present at Mr Murdoch’s summer party at the Serpentine Gallery in London earlier this summer was surprised no to see Miss Hall, or any of her family, by his side.

They said: ‘I did think it was odd that she wasn’t there. She’s a social butterfly and would generally be at these sort of functions.

‘I also noticed that none of her side of the family was there, nor her friends.’

Meanwhile none of Jerry’s children were present at the recent family wedding of Rupert’s granddaughter Charlotte Freud to rapper Luke Storey – despite there being 70 guests at the lavish event.

And both Rupert and Jerry’s children have offered no public comment or indication of any love lost in the proceedings.

Here FEMAIL reveals the two families caught up in Britain’s most high profile divorce…

RUPERT MURDOCH’S SIX CHILDREN…

Prudence MacLeod, 64

Rupert Murdoch was first married to Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant and department store model from Melbourne. The couple wed in 1956 in Australia, when he was 25.

They had a daughter, Prudence, together but split in 1966 after 11 years of marriage, nine years after the birth of their only child.

Their daughter Prudence worked for her father’s News of the World tabloid newspaper.

She is one of the few Murdochs not to be jostling for position in the family business.

She had a short marriage to British hedge fund manager Crispin Odey, who would go on to become the highest-earning manager in London.

But the pair were separated and divorced within 15 months of the marriage.

She later wed Alasdair MacLeod, who was also drafted into News Corp. He was an Eton-educated businessman who began working for Rupert, despite Prudence’s disapproval.

They had three children, James, Angus and Clementine, all of whom live in Sydney.

She remains low profile – but outspoken in private.

Elisabeth Murdoch, 53

A year after Rupert’s first divorce, he married Glasgow-born journalist Anna Torv, who he met when she was working with a newspaper in Sydney and had the chance to interview him.

The couple had three children together and were married for more than 30 years before ending their relationship in 1999.

Details are sparse but it has been reported that the divorce cost him $1.7 billion, including $10 million in cash, according to CNBC.

Their first daughter was Elisabeth, who went on to study in New York before joining her father’s business.

A natural businesswoman, she founded Shine Group, the television company behind MasterChef.

But she came under fire when she sold the company to her father’s empire for £415million.

Like Rupert, she has had a number of high profile relationships.

Her first marriage was to investment banker Elkin Kwesi Pianim, and the former couple share two children, Cornelia, 23, and Anna, 20.

The businesswoman was previously married to PR supremo Matthew Freud (the great grandson of Sigmund Freud) from 2001 to 2014.

The union produced two children, Charlotte, 17, and Samson, 10.

In 2017, Murdoch married artist Keith Tyson.

Lachlan is now executive co-chairman of 21st Century Fox, Rupert Murdoch’s film and television empire.

He is believed to be one of the most laid-back members of the Murdoch clan.

Lachlan tied the knot with his wife Sarah back in 1999 at the rural NSW family estate, Cava.

Sarah and Lachlan also have three sons Kalan, 14, Aidan, 12, and daughter Aerin, eight.

Lachlan raised eyebrows when he relocated from Los Angeles to Sydney with his supermodel wife Sarah, and their three children.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported they had moved to escape the political climate in the US.

Since then, Lachlan has been waking in the middle of the night to keep his working hours in synch with Eastern Standard Time, as the Fox News corporate headquarters and most of its staff are based in New York.

Lachlan said he was given a free reign when he started as CEO in 2019.

He had previously left his position as COO of News Corp in 2005 after falling out with Fox founder Roger Ailes.

He returned to the company in 2014, but found James, long thought to be the heir apparent, in his way as CEO of News Corp.

Rupert then decided to sell the 21st Century Fox and its assets to Disney for $71.3 billion.

Lachlan became the golden child once more on his return and was promoted over his younger brother by their father.

He and brother Lachlan had shared power at 21st Century Fox, but the sale of much of the Fox entertainment business to Disney in 2019 saw James depart as CEO.

Since then, he has worked at the helm of investment fund Lupa Systems.

James is considered more liberal than his older brother who is CEO of Fox Corp, home to conservative news network Fox News, the Fox broadcast and sports networks and local TV stations.

James has been critical of News Corp’s editorial decisions and has said he disagreed with Fox News coverage.

He resigned from the board on July 31, 2020.

The youngest son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his second wife Anna told the New York Times about his decision to break free from the family business, saying he ‘pulled the rip cord’ because he was ‘increasingly uncomfortable’ with News Corp and Fox ‘legitimizing disinformation’ and denying climate change.

Murdoch told the Times it was ‘not that hard a decision’ to stand down from News Corp because of major disagreements with his father and brother Lachlan over the running of the business.

He accused the news organization of ‘hid[ing] agendas’, ‘sow[ing] doubt’ and ‘obscur[ing] fact’ to its audience at a time when Trump has blasted other outlets for spreading so-called fake news while often heaping praise on conservative outlet Fox.

Grace Murdoch, 21

Just weeks after his divorce from Anna, Murdoch married Wendi Deng, a businesswoman from China, who he met while she was an intern at a TV station owned by News Corp.

She was 38 years his junior at 30 years old and had previously been married to a man 30 years older than her.

The couple shared two daughters – Grace, now 21, and Chloe, now 19, together.

That marriage lasted 14 years, before it was announced that the pair were divorcing, with a News Corp spokesperson revealing in June 2013 that their union had been ‘irretrievably broken for more than six months’.

They divorced after an audit of Miss Deng’s email account uncovered memos to herself about Tony Blair’s ‘good body’ and ‘really, really good legs butt [sic]’.

She denied accusations that she had become close to the former prime minister – however he is Grace’s godfather.

Both Grace and Chloe tend to keep a low profile, but made appearances when Jerry and Rupert tied the knot in a low-key ceremony at London’s Spencer House in March 2016.

Grace and Chloe, who were 14 and 12 at the time, respectively, served as flower girls, dressing up in fairy tale-esque blue gowns and carrying baskets of roses.

Meanwhile Chloe and Grace both travelled to Jordon in 2010 for their baptism.

They attended the event alongside Queen Rania and the girls’ godparents Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

The two girls were baptized in the River Jordan at the same site where Jesus Christ is said to have undergone the sacred ceremony.

Others who attended the baptism ceremony included Google co-founder Larry page and his wife, Lucy; former Viacom head Tom Freston and his then-wife Kathy; and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Blair, another of the of the godparents to the girls, was not featured in a Hello spread of the baptism.

Guests at the event all wore white for the ceremony.

Grace now has an active social media presence, where she often shares snaps of her adventures around the world with her 14k Instagram followers.

Meanwhile she also regularly posts photos of her father, writing messages like ‘I’m so lucky to be your daughter’ and ‘I love you.’

Generally, both Grace and Chloe maintain a low profile and do not attend public events.

However in 2017, they made a rare public appearance when they attended the MET gala alongside their mother.

She is believed to be currently attending Stanford University.

Elizabeth Jagger is the third of Sir Mick’s eight children and the eldest of his four children with former model Miss Hall.

She grew up in London, making her first appearance on the fashion runway in 1998, when she modeled for Thierry Mugler alongside her mother.

During the Rolling Stones’ 1999 Bridges to Babylon tour, she and her sister Georgia May Jagger sang backup vocals.

She went on to have a successful modelling career, posing for Tommy Hilfiger in Spring/Summer 2016 campaign.

Lizzy once said she was delighted to have inherited her father Mick’s features.

‘Happy to have inherited his great hair,’ she recently gushed – leaving out the fact that she had also inherited his famous lips.

Meanwhile she credited both her parent’s with helping to shape her looks.

‘I do get a lot of inspiration from his make-up looks from the 1970s, which he doesn’t really go for any more,’ she said. ‘He’s a bit more reserved with his make-up looks on stage these days.’

Happy to have inherited his ‘great hair’, she also compliments her mother.

‘She gives great advice,’ Lizzy says of Hall. ‘She’s a great teacher.’

In recent years Lizzy has scaled back her successful modelling career to focus on political activism.

She’s an ambassador for Equal Means Equal, a US movement promoting equal rights for women.

The model turned activist is married to documentary producer Christopher Behlau. The couple had their first child, Eugene, in September 2020.

Miss Hall, who is married to media mogul Rupert Murdoch, confirmed the news to The Mail on Sunday at the time, saying: ‘Being a granny is wonderful.’

Lizzy had previously stepped out with Sean Lennon, son of Beatle John, and reality star Calum Best, son of Manchester United legend George.

As a teenager, James has spoken of feeling less attractive than his siblings and, for a time, lacking confidence (pictured with Gabriel, Mick, Jerry and Georgia-May)

James Leroy Augustin Jagger was born in August 1985. He was 14 when his parents split up after his father got a Brazilian lingerie model pregnant, and he and his siblings remained with their mum at the family home in Richmond, South-West London.

As a teenager, he felt less attractive than his siblings and, for a time, lacked confidence.

Privately educated in London, he first attended Ibstock Place School, then moved to The Harrodian. Like his sister Lizzie, he is dyslexic and found lessons a struggle.

He became hooked on acting thanks to a teacher at The Harrodian, who also encouraged his classmate, the Twilight heart-throb actor Robert Pattinson.

James later explained: ‘Mr Parker got me excited about drama. By the time I was finished, acting was the only thing I wanted to do.’

Having dabbled in modelling, music and acting, James has starred in a number of TV shows including Vinyl

Having dabbled in modelling, music and acting, James has starred in a number of TV shows including Vinyl

But, at 18, it was surely inevitable that the son of a wildman rocker would fall in with a rather feral crowd — and so he did. Among his fellow roisterers was model Alice Dellal, heiress to a property fortune, who was once pictured with what appeared to be cocaine. She now models for Chanel.

In his late teens, James briefly dated Keith Richards’s leggy daughter Alexandra.

A graduate of the London School of Economics, Mick was keen for James to go to university, and Jerry hoped he might become a lawyer.

However, James turned down a place to read biochemistry at Loughborough University and wasn’t interested in any vocation except showbiz.

He eventually ended up at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, in New York. but much to Mick’s irritation, found the work hard, calling it ‘a nightmare’.

His father then funded James through a course with acting coach Susan Batson, who trained Nicole Kidman and George Clooney.

His debut was in two fringe plays at the King’s Head theatre pub in Islington, North London, before he was cast in cameo roles in the films Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, about the singer Ian Dury, and Mr Nice, a biopic of notorious drug smuggler Howard Marks.

But the restless young Jagger changed career and pinned his hopes on music.

He formed a band — Turbogeist — with friends and called himself Jimbo Mutant Shinobi, becoming entrenched in a world of workshy ‘trustafarians’ and living with seven others in a house his father bought for him in Hackney, East London, where he slept with a cricket bat by his bed for protection.

James said in 2010: ‘Mum wanted to come to one of our last gigs, but I said not to because it was in an underground bunker and she suffers from claustrophobia.

‘Dad once joked about coming along, too, but I joked that he couldn’t because there’d be too many teenage girls there.’

He has now gone back into acting, and starred in series including Vinyl.

Perhaps the best known of the Hall-Jagger youngsters, Georgia May was born in London before moving to New York in her teens.

In 2008, Jagger signed with Independent Models and she debuted at Chanel’s Resort 2011 show, which she closed.

She has also walked for  Balmain, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander Wang, Miu Miu,  Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, among others.

In 2009, Jagger was named Model of the Year at the Fashion Awards by the British Fashion Council.

She has since designed collections for Mulberry and Volcom.

The model is known for her gap tooth smile, and has previously spoken of how she would ‘never’ get braces.

In a 2008 interview, she said: ‘I wouldn’t even have braces on my teeth. I think they are horrible and this idea that everyone should conform and be perfect is ridiculous.

‘I like the fact I have good old-fashioned British teeth with a big gap. Who wants those gleaming white cosmetically enhanced American teeth?’

Georgia and her sister Lizzy both acted as bridesmaids at their mother’s wedding to Rupert.

While the sight of Jerry brought cheers, it was her daughters from her marriage to Mick, Georgia May and Elizabeth, who almost stole the show.

Also in blue, they were among the bridesmaids, along with Mr Murdoch’s daughters Grace and Chloe from his marriage to third wife Wendi Deng.

He appeared on the cover of AnotherMan in 2016, and had a shoot in L’Uomo Vogue, before switching gears.

After deciding it wasn’t for him, he launched an online news website WhyNow in 2020.

He is particularly private, and doesn’t have a social media presence.

Speaking to W Magazine in 2016, Gabriel said, ‘I literally don’t have social media. I just have Snapchat for my friends. I’m one of the only people I know.’
