Astros take a commanding 2-0 series lead in the American League championship as a 3-run blast from Alex Bregman in the third was all that was needed to beat the Yankees 3-2
Yankees starter Luis Severino didn’t make many mistakes in his outing that saw him strike out six batters and only surrender five hits.
But it was a 1-2 pitch with two outs in the bottom of the third to Alex Bregman that saw the third baseman launch a home run into the stands of Minute Maid Park to go up 3-0.
That was all that was needed as Astros starter Framber Valdez struck out nine, while only surrendering two runs in his seven innings of pitching. However, that was all that was required, as Houston held on to win 3-2 and take a two games to nothing lead.
Alex Bregman (R) hit a three-run homer which served as the only runs needed in the 3-2 win
Astros starter Framber Valdez fanned nine and only gave up four hits in the winning effort
Despite a strong outing from Luis Severino, the lone homer he gave up cost the Yankees
This is a developing story. More to come.
