Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is a target for Atletico Madrid who have made an enquiry for the 28-year-old.
Zinchenko joined the Gunners in 2022 from Manchester City, and was a major boost to Mikel Arteta’s plans at the time, but has found himself falling down the packing order in recent times.
The Ukrainian is now essentially the third-choice left back at the club, with Myles Lewis-Skelly jumping ahead of the 28-year-old in terms of selection in the position and Riccardo Calafiori also an option.
The Gunners are looking to add to their squad during the January transfer window, particularly in attacking areas, but could also cut other players, and Zinchenko could be on his way out.
Atletico Madrid have registered an interest in the 28-year-old, reaching out to the London-based club over a potential deal.
In 2016, Zinchenko joined Manchester City, initially playing as an attacking midfielder. Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, he transitioned to the left-back position, where he became a key player.

During his time at Manchester City, he won multiple trophies, including four Premier League titles and an FA Cup, cementing his reputation as a reliable and versatile player.
In search of regular playing time, Zinchenko moved to Arsenal in 2022 for £30million. He made an immediate impact at the club, assisting on his debut in a victory against Crystal Palace.
On the international stage, Zinchenko has been a vital player for Ukraine since making his debut in 2015. Notably, he became the youngest player to score for Ukraine, breaking a record previously held by Andriy Shevchenko.
Over the years, he has represented his country in major tournaments and has been a prominent voice advocating for peace in Ukraine.
Off the pitch, Zinchenko is known for his philanthropy and personal ventures. He is married to journalist Vlada Sedan, and they share two daughters. In addition to his football career, he has founded an esports organisation.
Atletico Madrid’s interest in Zinchenko reflects their desire to strengthen their defensive options. Zinchenko’s ability to play both in defense and midfield makes him an appealing prospect for the LaLiga giants.
However, other clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, have also shown interest, though they may find the financial demands challenging.
A move to Atletico Madrid would be Zinchenko’s first foray into Spanish football, adding another chapter to his career, which already includes stints in the English and Russian leagues.
As the January transfer window progresses, Arsenal may need to decide whether to entertain offers for Zinchenko.
