Auckland woman tries to trade expired chicken for ‘six cigarettes’

A woman who tried to swap a packet of expired chicken drumsticks for cigarettes has been mercilessly mocked online.

The Auckland resident posted a photo of the package of poultry on Facebook, with the condition they must be picked up.

‘Swap for chicken drumsticks six Taylor [sic] made cigarettes please or $7.00 cash,’ she wrote.

The photo showed a cling-wrapped packet of nine chicken legs with the skin on, and one sharp-eyed reader was able to make out the expiry date.

Before long the woman’s advertisement had attracted unwanted attention from other group members, and she soon found herself savaged in the comments.

‘When you’d rather get cancer than get full,’ someone wrote while sharing the photo on another group.

‘..and the children go hungry!’ said someone else.

‘Easier to steal chicken then tobacco,’ quipped another.

‘Jesus chicken died for your cigs,’ said one local joker.

‘The struggles are real out here… time to get that hustle on,’ said someone else followed by several laughing emojis.

Daily Mail Australia was unable to determine whether the woman found someone willing to make the exchange.
