Auditor BDO dumps Tory Party co-chair Ben Elliott’s luxury concierge business amid serious accounting errors

Auditor BDO has washed its hands of Quintessentially, the concierge business founded by Conservative Party co-chairman Ben Elliot – amid serious accounting errors.

Quintessentially bills itself as a pioneer of luxury lifestyle management that opens doors to high society for its clients.

It has arranged invitations to 10 Downing Street and events with members of the royal family.

But BDO has shown it the door over governance issues. Quintessentially said last year that it had made errors of more than £7million in its 2019 accounts and wrongly dished out £1.4million of dividends.

Now Quintessentially needs an audit firm to sign off its books.

It should have filed two sets of accounts with Companies House, for the year to April 2020 and also for the year to April 2021.

Quintessentially is reportedly set to be sold for £140million.
