An Australian nudist beach is one of the world’s best places to go skinny dipping, according to a comprehensive list ranking more than 100 popular free swimming spots.
Maslin Beach near Adelaide in South Australia was ranked third on the list, falling behind Lokrum Island in Croatia and Spiaggia Della Lecciona in Italy.
Maslin Beach, is located 40 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD, and was Australia’s first official nude beach.
The 3km stretch is known as a ‘happy place’ and described as being free from ‘unsavoury behaviours’ found at other nude beaches.

The popular three-kilometre stretch has nude swimming and clothed swimming sections
The beach has signposted ‘nude swimming’ areas as well as clothed areas for those who prefer to take a dip in bathers.
It is also home to Australia’s ‘nude games’ which has been running at the beach since 1983.
The ‘top 100’ study was completed by My Dating Advisor, and included beaches in China, Brazil, Iceland and the USA.
Australia featured heavily in the list with four swimming spots listed in the top 20.
Wanggoolba Creek on Fraser Island, Cronan Creek Falls in Queensland’s Mount Barney and Sydney’s Lady Bay Beach also made the list.
Each beach was scored out of 100 with quality, average weather and safety all taken into consideration.
Runner up, La Lecciona, is the ‘last free beach in Tuscany’. It has been a popular gay beach since the 1970s
In first place is Lokrum Island – just a 10-minute ride from Dubrovnik which makes it very popular with tourists
Maslin Beach scored 72.75 out of 100 points – most of the points lost were due to the cost of nearby accommodation.
Croatia’s Lokrum Island – the winning destination – is just a 10-minute ride from Dubrovnik. It scored a massive 84 points due to its pleasant average air and water temperature and low cost of nearby accommodation.
Runner up, La Lecciona, is the ‘last free beach in Tuscany’. It has been a popular gay beach since the 1970s. It is now popular with nudist families and considered to be very safe.
