Australia on tsunami watch after massive earthquake in the Pacific with an urgent warning issued to Lord Howe Island residents

Australia is on tsunami watch after magnitude 7.6 earthquake near the Loyalty Islands, the Bureau of Meteorology have said.

There is a potential tsunami threat for Lord Howe Island.

Lorde Howe island lies 600km directly east of Port Macquarie, with a population of 382 people.

The island has strict restrictions on the amount of tourists allowed to stay there, welcoming only 400 at any one time.
