A missing three-year-old girl has been found dead in a stormwater drain – with a 27-year-old man charged with manslaughter.

The girl and a two-year-old boy from Kelso in Townsville were reported missing to police at 6:40pm on Saturday, sparking a desperate search for the children.

Just after 8:20pm authorities located the body of the young girl in a nearby stormwater drain. 

She was rushed to Townsville University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old man will face Townsville Magistrates Court charged with manslaughter of three-year-old girl found dead in a stormwater drain

The man has been charged with one count each of manslaughter, endangering children by exposure and drive under the influence of a drug.

He is known to the children. 

The two-year-old boy was found wandering the streets shortly after the young children were reported missing. 

The man will face Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow after being denied bail.
