Australian activewear label beloved by Pippa Middleton 2XU

She’s completed gruelling marathons in the desert, undertaken 3,000-mile bike challenges and seen out swim-run events in Europe – so you’d hope she knows a bit about sports gear.

She’s also Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, so when she wears a label, the ‘Pippa effect’ is quick to take hold.

Enter 2XU. The Australian sports label is the latest activewear to be sported by newlywed, Mrs Matthews, 33.

The recent bride was seen arriving at the luxury boutique KX Gym in London last week wearing a fitted black pair of compression leggings or tights by the label.

The label is popular because many of their products are lab-tested and favoured by endurance athletes.

On their site, 2XU write: ‘With an impressive list of features and benefits, these tights are breathable, lightweight and supportive to the major leg muscles.

‘Body firming and ideal for both low and high impact training, competition or recovery demands.’

The new bride, Pippa, isn’t the only big-name fan of 2XU.

Others include Kim Kardashian, who wore the 7/8 compression tights while working out in Mexico, actress and model, Sofia Vergara, and Lara Worthington.

Kanye West and Victoria Beckham have also worn 2XU activewear while relaxing or heading to the gym.

Meanwhile, countless high-profile athletes also swear by the compression gear.

‘[We want to be] the number one sports compression brand in all markets, all channels and all sports,’ 2XU chief, Paul Higgins, told Sydney Morning Herald recently.

‘Right now… if you looked at dollar revenue or product quality, it’s already a market leader, but we’ve got so much growth to get to that primary goal.’

At the moment, ‘compression’ workout gear – or clothes designed to ‘compress’ your muscles into shape – is all the rage.

And while scores of amateur and professional athletes, including top British runner Paula Radcliffe, swear by the expensive leggings to reduce muscle vibrations and prevent fatigue, not everyone is convinced.

A recent American study by Ohio State University found that the effects are so subtle that it’s often not worth forking out the extra dollars or pounds to invest in compression gear.

‘In the study, runners performed the same with and without compression tights,’ lead investigator Dr Ajit Chaudhari, previously told MailOnline.
