Australian brides are forking out more money than ever before on wedding dresses

Finding your dream wedding dress is often the first step for brides organising their own special day.

But with so many options – and budgets – to decide on it’s no wonder the price of finding The One is creeping higher.

Bridal experts Wedded Wonderland surveyed 515 women to decipher exactly how much the average Australian woman is forking out for her all-important white dress – and the answer may come as a surprise.

In 2018 the number has hit a staggering $5,180 total, which is almost 30 per cent higher than it was the previous year ($4,000).

Wedded Wonderland’s founder and director Wendy El Khoury said the reason for the dramatic increase is simple: there is more pressure from social media than ever before.

‘Social media and reality TV has had a huge impact on the way Aussies celebrate love and marriage,’ explained Wendy.

”Instagrammable moments’ have become a phenomenon at weddings, as well as the need to introduce surprise elements for guests.’
