First, Olivia recommended sleeping on a cooling mattress topper, which she claims can be ‘more effective’ than a running air conditioner because it’s closer to your body.

‘This sends cool water through tubes in the mattress topper, ensuring you stay cool through the evening,’ she wrote.

But some might not be able to justify the cost as the product ranges between $150 to $1199.

Top retailers that sell cooling mattress toppers include Kogan, Luxdream, Tontine and Chili Sleep.

She also suggested sleeping on sheets made from natural fabric – such as cotton, bamboo, linen or silk – with a 200 to 400 thread count.

‘Natural fibres are thermoregulatory – they have the ability to absorb and dissipate heat,’ she said.

Popular natural bedsheets can be purchased from Bed Threads, Koala, Adairs and Sheridan.

Before going to bed, Olivia also recommended showering to cool the body down. 'The dip in core body temperature when you emerge from a warm shower to a cool bathroom is a cue for melatonin synthesis,' she said

To promote heat loss and keep cool, she deems it to be a good idea to sleep naked with socks on.

According to the Sleep Foundation, temperature regulation is essential when falling asleep and wearing socks to bed helps lower core body temperature.

As a result, wearing socks to bed helps a person gets to sleep faster as it increases the blood flow by warming the feet.

Before going to bed, Olivia also recommended showering to cool the body down.

‘The dip in core body temperature when you emerge from a warm shower to a cool bathroom is a cue for melatonin synthesis,’ she said.

Melatonin synthesis helps regular circadian rhythm for consistent, quality sleep.

The social media post was well received by others who praised the four simple points anyone can follow.
