Australian IndyCar driver Will Power emerged unscathed from a horror crash at the Bommarito 500 on Saturday.

Power’s Chevrolet spun into the wall before Ed Carpenter clipped a third car and flew through the air landing right in top of him.

The crash at the Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois, has left Power all but out of contention for a second championship win.

All three drivers involved in the collision – Power, Carpenter and Takuma Sato – walked away unhurt, Autoweek reported.

The trouble started for power after he was overtaken by teammate Josef Newgarden, causing his vehicle to spin out of control

‘Josef went around the outside and got some of his dirty air and I just lost it. Unfortunate. Very frustrating. Unbelievably frustrating,’ said the Australian.

It was just slippery …Josef just took my air going around on the outside. I just tried to get back to power and got some dirty air. It just went. Unfortunate.’

Power finished the race in second-last position, but earned one point by winning the pole.

The 36-year-old won the IndyCar series in 2014.
