Australian man, 25, who had just started the trip of a lifetime with his Swedish girlfriend is left fighting for life after a horror accident in Indonesia

- He was with his Swedish girlfriend Tova, who only sustained injuries to her arm
A 25-year-old Australian man has been put into an induced coma after a serious accident in Indonesia left him fighting for life.
Luke Bevan and his girlfriend Tova Ronnersjö arrived in Lombok earlier this week, where he had just completed his open water diving certificate. The tropical island was set to be the first leg of a five month trip to Central and South America.
But Mr Bevan, an electrician from Kimberley in Western Australia, and Ms Ronnersjö were in an accident shortly after arriving, leaving him in a critical condition.

A Go Fund Me set up by Mr Bevan’s aunt Lisa Ilott-Hogg said his family had rushed to Lombok immediately when they heard about the accident, to be by his side.
She said one of his lungs is punctured from four broken ribs, and the other has collapsed.
Mr Bevan is also suffering multiple broken bones and a large piece of his skull was removed during surgery to reduce swelling and repair bleeds.
He is currently in an ICU ward, with two full-time nurses caring for him.
Ms Illott-Hogg said the lively outdoorsman will remain unconscious until Saturday, when doctors will perform a CT scan and decide if he is stable enough to regain consciousness.
The GoFundMe says Mr Bevan’s family is hoping to bring him back to Australia as soon as possible for further treatment.
The family will have extensive medical bills to pay, and are looking for help to pay the $50-60,000 it will cost to fly their son home.

Mr Bevan had completed his open water diving license just days earlier and was enjoying the tropical island with friends when his holiday was cut short
‘It is going to be a very long road to recovery, but Lukey is a fighter and he has so much love and support around him,’ Ms Illott-Hogg wrote.
‘As much as it is difficult to ask for help, we are reaching out to Lukeys friends and family for any financial support you might be able to afford to help bring him home. Every little bit helps and we thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts.’
A post from the family’s local pub noted Ms Ronnersjö was also injured in the accident, but was ‘physically in much better condition’.
‘She had surgery on her arm yesterday and expects to be released from hospital tomorrow so she can be by Lukey’s side,’ the post read.
‘Tova will return to Australia with Mandi [Mr Bevan’s mother] and Luke when he is able to return.’
