An Australian has revealed that he believes the as-yet unidentified shooter that terrorised the Las Vegas strip on Monday night was staying next door to him.
Brian Hodge, who hails from NSW, told The Age that he was staying in room 32134 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
The gunman who killed at least 20 people and injured over 100 more was tracked down and shot in room 32135 – next door to the 36-year-old.

Mr Hodge said that he was thankful he didn’t make it back to his room, instead hiding in bushes outside the hotel for three hours.
‘It was hardcore, like it was full machine-guns for 20 seconds and then it stopped for five seconds then it just went again it,’ he said.
‘There were so many shots fired, I couldn’t tell you many.’

Mr Hodge described the terrifying moment a woman stepped in front of him and urged to turn back because there was a shooter.
He said that everyone just started running, and when he reached the ground floor of the casino, several guests went to hide in the kitchen.
They then ran out onto the street, where Mr Hodge was confronted with ‘utter chaos’.
‘We could just hear bullets being fired and then we could see the bright lights of helicopters flying over the top of us,’ he said.
‘I was just laying on the ground. It was like a scene from a movie…The shooter was up above.’

‘I didn’t want anyone to know where I was so I just curled up and hid. It was the most terrifying moment of my life.’
He then described the scene as a SWAT team converged on the hotel, in full gear, yelling for everyone to stay down and put their hands up.
The shooter was later killed in his room by police, who also found a stash of weapons and ammunition.
Police are searching for a possible accomplice, who has been identified as an Asian female named Mary Lou Danley.
