Australian Ninja Warrior suffers drop in ratings during Heat Two as MasterChef bridges gap

The second season of Ninja Warrior launched to 929,000 metro viewers on Sunday, beating out House Rules and MasterChef in the prime time slot, but falling well short of last year’s numbers.

And on Monday, the Channel Nine show only narrowly secured the top spot against Network Ten’s MasterChef by just 1,000 viewers.

According to TV Tonight, Ninja Warrior lost almost 100,000 viewers from Sunday, with fans on Twitter claiming they were ‘bored’ by the episode.

During Heat Two none of the competitors were able to complete the course, with majority of the athletes failing during the second obstacle.

‘Ok switching off #NinjaWarriorAu. Terrible commentary. It’s all back story and no one is actually getting past the second obstacle. Boring,’ one viewer wrote.

Another said:  ‘Well this is boring. Couldn’t you edit it so that at least someone makes it out of the first 3 or 4?? @NinjaWarriorAU #NinjaWarriorAU.’

There are six heats in the competition, but many contenders crashed out on the UFO Slider on Monday.
