Australian robber brags about his crimes to undercover cops

A clever trick by Sydney police to help put a member of one of Australia’s most dangerous families in jail has been revealed.

The criminal, who was reporting to Merrylands Police Station in 2013 as part of his bail conditions for an armed robbery charge, was told by police he had to wait in a cell while they fixed a computer glitch.

He had been bailed over the armed robbery of an Armaguard truck outside a shopping centre in Sydney on March 4 2013, but police needed more evidence.

The man, who was involved in the 2013 robbery of an Armaguard cash truck, admitted to stealing the Mercedes C63 used to carry out the crime

The man decided to pass the time by telling the other two inmates in the cell about the details of his criminal past.

But little did he know he was in fact talking to undercover police officers – and court documents seen by The Daily Telegraph show exactly what the criminal said.

The man, whose loose tongue was used by police to put him behind bars for more than 10 years in February, admitted to the two men within minutes of having an armoury of weapons at home.

He said: ‘F**k I got a heap. I got everything man.

‘Like glocks, revolvers, SKS and things like that.

‘Real man. I’ve got three of them.’

He admitted to stealing a Mercedes C63 at gunpoint from its owner in Vaucluse.

He said: ‘Couldn’t find the keys so we woke them up.’

‘Just placed a gun … put, like, a gun to their head and tell ‘em to give me the keys.

‘(I waited) till they come home. As he was going up the driveway I jumped out.’

He then admitted to the crime police had been trying to nail him on – that he had stolen the Audi RS6 that had been used in the robbery.

The now convicted criminal even expressed his frustration that the guards wouldn’t open the truck – leaving him empty-handed.

He said: ‘Stubborn c***s man. One of them (stayed inside the van). One of them did. Lock himself inside the van.’

Putting the cherry on the cake for the undercover cops, the man also reveled he had used the C63 in another robbery of a pub – saying he took ‘two hundred (thousand’ in the heist.

The undercover officer also reassured the criminal that the cell at the Merrylands police station was not bugged.

He said: ‘My solicitor once told me that police cells, they’re fine.

‘They can’t. They do the jail ones, in here. Apparently fine.’

The unnamed criminal has since lodged an appeal which has not yet been heard.
