Australian Survivor star David Genat admits filming took a massive toll on his body

‘I actually considered pulling out’: Australian Survivor star David Genat admits the show took a massive toll on his body ahead of the season finale

Australian Survivor is the toughest reality show on TV, with contestants often suffering severe weight loss and other physical effects after filming.

On Saturday, David Genat, currently tipped to win this season, admitted that his return for an All Stars battle had a massive toll on his body.

In fact, he was so badly battered filming this year’s season, he ‘considered pulling out’ after bleeding out into his shoes while completing that first challenge.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, David revealed: ‘Season four I escaped injuries somehow’.

‘But the severe weight loss the first time, then having the bulk back up for All Stars and going in there a bit heavier than I normally am, it was really insane on my body.’

The 39-year-old continued: ‘Day one I ended up with 10 stitches on my leg, after NRL star, Mat Rogers, threw an errant piece of wood that caught me on the shin.

With no access to emergency services, he said, ‘There was literally stitches on the beach and I’m back in the game.’

Earlier this month, David admitted that the show also affected his performance in the bedroom.

‘It takes a big toll on the reproductive area,’ he told Survivor co-stars Phoebe Timmins and Sarah Tilleke on their podcast P.S. with Phoebe and Sarah.

Phoebe, who was voted off Survivor: All Stars after being blindsided by David, took the opportunity to cheekily seek revenge by asking: ‘Are you saying you’re bad in bed?’

‘Probably right now I am,’ he responded, admitting that the harsh conditions of playing two seasons of the game back-to-back had left him with little desire in the bedroom.

Sarah, who starred in the second season of the series back in 2017, went on to reveal this phenomenon only seems to affect men in the game while for women, it has the opposite effect.

‘At least when I played, the girls, somehow everything was activated on the island. Everything operated on a high buzzy level,’ she admitted.

‘Almost every guy without fail said nothing’s working,’ she added.
