One of Australia’s most famous country towns has renamed itself in celebration of national Tim Tam day. 

Tamworth, in north-east New South Wales, emerged as Tim Tamworth on Saturday 16 of February in honour of the nation’s favourite and most iconic biscuits.

Arnott’s descended on the renown country music town to host a Tim Tam fete at Fitzroy Plaza, providing a range of family friendly games and activities for the local community.

Tamworth Regional Council provided approval for Arnott’s to promote the festivities on two billboards – one on the City Pool and one on the Sydney highway near Timbumburi.

Matt Grant, the marketing manager for Tim Tam said: ‘We are so excited to celebrate National Tim Tam Day with Tamworth’s diehard Tim Tam fans!’

‘For us, National Tim Tam Day is all about celebrating the people who have helped make Tim Tam Australia’s favourite chocolate biscuit.’

‘We hope the people in Tamworth and the rest of Australia use the day to reconnect with each other over a Tim Tam Slam of course.’

The day also celebrates new variations of the sought-after biscuit, the Tim Tam Slam, in flavours dark choc and sticky raspberry, choc malt and sticky caramel and choc hazelnut and gooey caramel. 

Chief Slam Officer, former MasterChef contestant Poh, attended the event to show residents how to do the perfect Tim Tam Slam – an Australian tradition.

A Tim Tam Slam, hailed as the best way to enjoy the biscuit, involves biting either end and using the biscuit as a straw for a beverage like a hot chocolate or milk.
