Australian TV first: Todd Sampson watches on in horror as Indian holy man

An Indian tribe member has gnawed into the flesh inside a dead human’s skull in a confronting Australian television first.

The eye-opening ritual was part of Todd Sampson’s Channel Ten series, Body Hack 2.0, which delved into the traditions and religious beliefs of the Aghori Sadhu tribe.

Sampson watched as elder, Babaji, laughed hysterically before chowing down on the human matter – a practice his culture considered ‘strength giving’.

The startling tradition was one of several bizarre rituals exposed in the series, with Babaji also filmed drinking contaminated ocean water from a human skull.

Sampson appeared to struggle against the urge to vomit while sitting alongside Babaji, who’s face and body was covered in the charcoal from cremated human bodies.

‘What we may find disgusting, they see it as part of their spiritual process,’ he explained.

‘If they can concentrate on God by even doing the most perverted acts of eating human flesh, they believe that breaks the illusion that we all live in.’

In perhaps the most disturbing instance, Babaji took a large bite of the spine before breaking into a large outburst of laughter.

The host was visibly struggling to retain composure at the bizarre situation.

‘Oh I feel like I’m going to vomit,’ he said, before asking Babaji what the human remains tasted like.

‘Very good,’ he responded as he continued laughing.

Sampson also partook in an eye-boggling ‘penis yoga’ ritual, which involved naked men bending their penises around a sword.

While he refused to attempt the meditation himself, he climbed aboard a sword suspended by nothing but a tribe member’s penis, with his full body weight.

He did however, agree to experiment in the Aghori’s daily morning ritual of meditating with cannabis.

The tribe believes such acts can help them to bypass reincarnation and reach enlightenment, and thus bring them closer to God.
