Australian winners and losers at the Golden Globes 

The 75th Golden Globe Awards were held in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

And of the 26 categories, FIVE Australians were nominated for a coveted golden statue to recognise their work in the film and television industry.

From Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, to Margot Robbie and Katherine Langford: Here’s a complete list of the winners and losers who hail from Down Under.

Nicole Kidman was awarded the first award of the night, for her role in Big Little Lies, a show she also produced.

She took home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award. 

When accepting her gong, the 50-year-old actress made sure to share the honour with fellow executive producer and star Reese Witherspoon as well as co-stars Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley.

As her character Celeste Wright is the victim of domestic abuse she made sure to share a message of hope as she said: ‘The character that I play represents something that is the center of our conversation right now: abuse. I do believe and hope that we can elicit change – through the stories we tell and the way we tell them.’ 

Kidman also made sure to thank her country singer husband Keith Urban as she sweetly said: ‘Keith Urban, when my cheek is against yours, everything melts away.’ 

The Big Little Lies series went on to secure a total of four Golden Globes during the evening.

Margot Robbie who also acted and produced her role in I, Tonya was up for the Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy Movie, but was beaten by Lady Bird’s Saoirse Ronan.

Reports by People claimed Margot, who still looked a million dollars, was battling a bout of the flu during the awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, stunning star Katherine Langford was nominated for Best Actress In A TV Series Drama for Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.

James Franco was eventually given the award for his role in The Disaster Movie, accepting the award alongside his brother Dave.

Geoffrey Rush was another actor up for a award, Best Actor In A Limited Series Or Tv Movie for his role in Genius, but he was absent from the awards night.

Last month, the Oscar-winning actor filed a defamation suit against The Daily Telegraph over ‘false and demeaning’ claims of inappropriate behaviour toward a female cast member on the set of King Lear. 

The award Rush was nominated for was given to Ewan McGregor for his role in Fargo.
