Australian woman shares idea for touching ornament way to remember how tall kids at Christmas

Woman shares the touching way she will remember her children and how tall they are every Christmas

  • A woman shared the sweet way she plans to mark her kids’ growth at Christmas
  • The touching idea uses a piece of ribbon to measure the height of children
  • This is then fashioned into a decoration which is hung from branches of the tree
  • Every year a new ‘bauble’ is made and added to others collected over the years

A woman has revealed a touching idea she says she plans to use in the future as a way to remember how tall her children are at Christmas.

Chynna Quinn from Brisbane said although she isn’t a mum yet, she wanted to share a photo of the inspiring decoration with others on Facebook.

‘Just seen this on another page and thought I’d share. It’s a very thoughtful ornament something I’ll be doing in years to come,’ Chynna captioned her post.

‘Imagine how cool it would look, accumulating many baubles, different colour ribbon over years!’

This ‘memory’ bauble was made using a length of ribbon, first used to measure a child, wound around a glass decoration

The decoration is easy enough to make and all that is needed is a length of ribbon, which has been used to measure a child’s height.

This is wound around a glass bauble and secured in place. The item is made extra special with the addition of a small, handwritten note.

‘This ribbon is very special indeed because if you take out and measure it you will remember how little I was in 2018,’ reads a message on the original post.

The ‘gorgeous idea’ has struck a chord with others and the woman’s post has garnered more than 500 reactions.

‘That is just too cute. So doing this.’ said one.

Another wrote: ‘This is so sweet. I almost had a little cry.’

‘This is awesome my daughter’s kindy did this last year and we measured her and she has actually grown 3 inches taller,’ a third said.

Other mothers on the thread also said they had used clear Christmas baubles as a way of making ornaments filled with meaningful items belonging to their kids.

‘We have clear baubles with their first Xmas bibs in them or Xmas socks. This is a great idea,’ said one.

While another added: ‘My son made one today but put his picture and ribbon in a bauble.’
