Many acne-plagued women have claimed a $50 serum from an Australian skincare brand has cleared theirstubborn spots in a matter of weeks.

Vital Skin Co is the brainchild of Sydney financial adviser Elizabeth Ware, 25, who was determined to create an affordable but effective range after battling chronic acne throughout her teens and early twenties.

Developed in consultation with pharmacists, the products are made with natural ingredients such as vitamins B, C and E which accelerate healing and reduce the appearance of pigmentation, without the harsh chemicals usually found in acne treatments.

Ms Ware ensured the formulas were suitable for all ethnicities, ages and skin types, after struggling to find products marketed towards her own Greek-African heritage.

Best sellers include a $45 gel cleanser and a $40 ‘Glass Skin Cream’, which customers have hailed the ‘best moisturiser’ they have ever used.

But the ‘hero’ product –  and Ms Ware’s personal favourite – is a $50 serum laced with niacinamide, the cosmetic name for zinc, which she describes as ‘super gentle with maximum results’.

The serum is made with vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps to neutralise free radicals and reduce redness, swelling and improve the appearance of acne scars.

The brand’s website boasts dozens of glowing reviews, with many crediting the product for clearing not only their spots, but scarring too.

One woman said she felt confident enough to go makeup-free after just a few weeks of using the serum.

‘This has been so great to clear up my scarring,’ she wrote.

‘It’s been there for years and for the first time I feel confident not wearing makeup which is huge for me! Will be repurchasing for sure.’

A second said she has ‘never seen faster results’ with her skin until she started using the product.

Others raved about the $30 soothing sage mask, with one woman crediting it for ‘saving’ her skin throughout winter.

While the beauty industry is becoming increasingly saturated with e-commerce skincare brands, Ms Ware believes the inclusivity of Vital sets it apart from others on the market.

‘It’s out core value. Our products have been tried and tested to give results no matter your [ethnic] background or skin concern,’ she said.
