Everyone has different tastes when it comes to what they like in a partner, but new research has revealed that an overwhelming amount of people find accents the biggest turn on.
Ashley Madison, a dating website for people who are married or in a relationship, recently divulged that 72 per cent of people would prefer someone with an accent over their own own native tongue.
The site also shared the ones that Australians find the most attractive, and which accent took out the top spot.
The site surveyed 1,765 Ashley Madison members – here are the results.

The English accent is the one that is victorious, with the latest survey showing that 17 per cent of people have it at the top of their list.
French came in next at 13 per cent, which is unsurprising considering that this is the language spoken in the city of love.
Interestingly, accents from North America, Ireland, and Scandinavia tied in third place.
The exotic Spanish accent was ranked at fourth place – along with the Latin American accent, with seven per cent of respondents finding them alluring.

Sadly, almost 90 per cent of cheating partners revealed that their spouse doesn’t have a foreign accent.
This shows that those who are looking to stray are more interested in someone who can speak to them in a new and exotic way.
French came in at an understandable second place at 13 per cent, which is unsurprising considering that this is the language spoken in the city of love
‘Although our members find foreign accents to be sexy, the second most popular reason why cheaters like the foreign accents is because it’s different than what they’re used to, which is suggestive of why they use our service,’ Isabella Mise, Director of Communications for AshleyMadison.com said.
This research is a clear indication that daters, and possibly cheaters, prefer someone who can offer something different to what they’re used to.
So for all the English folks out there, it might just be a good time to put your pick-up lines to the test.
