Selina Holder smiles broadly as she struts past a waiting media pack on the cold streets of Melbourne.
It was the Sydney business development manager’s long-distance relationship – perhaps doomed from the start – that launched her from obscurity into the spotlight this week.
Standing a little over six-foot tall, Holder is accused of being the partner from hell – someone who bashed, bullied and told awful lies about her significant other, bank IT guru Con Arvanitis.

Over the past three days she had been forced to face the cameras as she entered and left the County Court of Victoria amid allegations she had defamed her ex-partner by calling him, among other things, a drug-addled sex addict.
She had met Mr Arvanitis in September 2012 via an online dating site.
By his own account, the Melbourne man had been about to hit rockbottom from a rampant cocaine addiction that had consumed his life and ended his previous marriage.
But the pair hit it off and began a long distance relationship over the next 10 months.
The couple had only been together in person a little over a dozen times before Ms Holder fell pregnant and moved in with him in Melbourne.
What transpired next is now being played out in a packed courtroom amid claims Ms Holder embarked on a campaign to destroy her estranged partner’s reputation.

It had already been an ugly separation.
Mr Arvanitis – who has admitted to having a healthy appreciation for pornography and the fairer sex – was back to online dating within about six months after the split.
Through Tinder, he had brief relationships with two other women before hooking up with a woman he liked the look of while sitting in a Melbourne cafe in 2016.
That woman was Melanie Thornton – the sister of breast cancer surgeon Dr Chantel Thornton, who just happens to be married to luxury car dealer Srecko Lorbek.

Letter To Mr Arvanitis’ Melanie Thornton
Court documents allege Selina Holder shared a document with Mr Arvanitis’ current fiancee that stated:
‘He is dangerous and violent and sex addict (sic).
He goes to Sydney and cheats on you.
He will beat you up. (redacted)
We have the police investigating him.
We want to warn you.
We are the sisterhood.
We have to expose him.
He will take all your money.
He has to be stopped. We have evidence of his abuse.
We are trying to save you.
You must contact us so we can protect you from this evil person.
We all want to help you.
We are in Melbourne together so please meet with us.
The couple got engaged in January 2018 and soon after, a hand delivered letter arrived at Melanie Thornton’s home address.
It’s content was disturbing to say the least.
Later that year, Dr Thornton received a document from Ms Holder that was scathing about Mr Arvanitis.
She hadn’t been the first to see it, Mr Arvanitis claimed, with his two previous ex-girlfriends also receiving a copy.
The document alleged Mr Arvanitis broke Ms Holder’s foot, that he was a prescription drug dealer, was mentally unstable, a criminal and a ‘sex addict’.
Before too long, Dr Chantel Thornton had shared the document with her car dealer husband and her parents.
The court heard Mr Arvantitis was cut off by the Thornton family and all of their friends.
‘I no longer existed,’ he said.
Mr Arvanitis – an IT expert earning $170,000 a year – was furious and unleashed his lawyers on his previous two girlfriends for passing about the inflammatory documents.
The pair would fold under legal pressure and offer full retractions and apologies.
But Mr Arvanitis would get no such satisfaction from an equally furious Ms Holder.
Not only did Ms Holder deny publishing any defamatory documents about her ex-partner, she filed a document of defence depicting him as nothing short of a monster.

Dr Chantel Thornton allegedly received some damning information about Con Arvanitis and shared it with her husband
Documents filed with the court alleged Mr Arvanitis had previously spiked her drink with methamphetamine, was having unprotected sex with four other women while seeing her and had been using them for financial gain.
She further alleged he had been violent to her while pregnant and jeopardised the safety of their own child during a terrifying road rage incident.
Ms Holder painted a picture of a jealous man out of control, who would turn up to her work and make scenes and lock her outside at night in her nightwear.
She labelled him an ‘ice addict’ who in 2012 smuggled ice in his socks on a Sydney-to-Melbourne flight.
The allegations go on and on and declare Mr Arvanitis a thief, drug dealer, stalker, liar, dead beat dad and worse.
‘The plaintiff is and was a sex addict by virtue of the number of women with whom he had sexual intercourse, or endeavoured to do so, at the same time,’ Ms Holder’s statement of defence read.
On Wednesday, the couple met again within the confines of the County Court of Victoria.

Dr Chantel Thornton is a specialist breast and oncoplastic surgeon, specialising in the surgical treatment of breast cancer and preventative breast cancer surgery.
She also manages benign breast conditions and high-risk patients with a strong family history of breast cancer.
This time it was behind closed doors in a last ditch attempt to sort out their differences.
For two days the train wreck of their combined lives had been played out before a packed court room.
On Tuesday afternoon, after enduring a morning of evidence from Mr Arvanitis, the matter was stood down to allow the warring ex-couple to enter mediation.
On Monday, the court heard Mr Arvanitis would end his legal action should Ms Holder’s consent to an order that she stop making defamatory statements, an acknowledgment that what she had written was false, and $5000.
That offer was refused.
It is understood Mr Arvanitis has employed up to half-a-dozen lawyers already in his legal battle against Ms Holder.
By midday, it was clear mediation attempts had failed and Mr Arvanitis returned to the witness box to dish out the dirt on his ex-partner.

The company has been trading in European prestige, luxury and sports cars for more than 30 years.
Dr Thornton married Mr Lorbek in 2017 in Tasmania in front of their nearest and dearest – including former politician Julie Bishop.
The couple welcomed their son Thornton Felix Lorbek in 2020.
In 2017 Mr Lorbek sued his own customer for claiming on social media he was sold a lemon.
He did it again the following year after another bad review went online.
‘You need to die seriously,’ she wrote in April 2016.
‘You don’t deserve to live.’
The barrage came as he was planning a trip to Sydney to visit his daughter, Mr Arvanitis said.
The insults continued.
‘You are a sociopath, psychopath.’
‘Dumb drug ass.’
‘Small disease d**k.’
For days they continued, the court heard.
‘Go kill yourself loser. LOSER. LIAR. DEVIL. DRUG ADDICT,’ one text read.
Mr Arvanitis told the court he feared Ms Holder planned to completely end his relationship with their young daughter.
‘You don’t deserve children. You are sick and dangerous,’ she texted him.
‘You are dead to me and a s**t father.’
Mr Arvanitis said Ms Holder threatened to tell their daughter he was a ‘pathetic lying drug addict’.
‘She already knows her dad’s a fake who w**ks over himself,’ she wrote.
When served with legal papers over the defamation hearing, Ms Holder immediately went out and got an intervention order taken out against Mr Arvanitis.

The court heard NSW police later agreed to pay Mr Arvantitis more than $10,000 for the cost of defending the ‘vexacious, frivalent and unlikely to succeed’ application.
‘They gave me my money back,’ Mr Arvantitis said.
A day earlier, Mr Arvanitis claimed Ms Holder had cheated on him from the beginning of their relationship and had once found a ranchy photo message on her phone that he claimed she had sent to her secret lover.
When questioned about the image, Mr Arvanitis claimed Ms Holder would become violent and lash out.
Among a swag of allegations, Mr Arvanitis claimed Ms Holder repeatedly punched him in the face and whipped him over the head with a phone charging cable.
Mr Arvanitis, who claimed to have kicked a rampant cocaine habit that threatened to consume his life, said he had continued to pay all of his child maintenance responsibilities in addition to paying off Ms Holder’s credit card debts.
Ms Holder, who denies she sent the letter, has filed a defence claiming Mr Arvanitis spent $220,000 on cocaine, took meth and sold Viagra to colleagues while working at ANZ.
She is expected to take to the witness box herself over the coming day to offer her version of their sordid lives together.
The County Court of Victoria trial is scheduled to run for eight days.
