A list of baby names have made it into the Australian top 100 for 2019, including Sadie, Hallie, Hamish and River.

The data, compiled by Baby Centre, found a handful of unique monikers that gained in popularity for boys and girls this year.

And while Amelia, Isla, Charlotte, Oliver, Noah and Leo topped the list for favourite baby girl and boy names, it seems parents are shifting away from the popular monikers.

For the boys, the fast-trending baby names are Kobe, River, Miles, Christian, Leon, and Mateo, while Felix and Luke made a surprise comeback after a two-year hiatus.

After dropping out of the chart completely in 2018, Hamish, Owen, Dominic, Fletcher, Phoenix and Alex reappeared in the top 100 this year.

‘This year’s list reflects how fickle Australian parents can be in their choices,’ the website states.

‘Alexis and Thea fell the most dramatically, once again dropping out of favour with parents after being super-hot last year.’

The data found names starting with L becoming popular among parents, including Leo, Lucas and Luca making the top 10.

‘L names are in vogue. Leo finally cracked the top five, Lucas returned to the top five after a two-year absence, and cousin Luca charged into the top 10 for the first time,’ BabyCenter said.
