Australia’s oldest Pizza Hut restaurant has been demolished, devastating pizza lovers around the country. 

A slice of Australia’s famous pizza restaurant, located in the Sydney suburb of Belfield, has been bulldozed to make way for apartments.

Strathfield Council confirmed the Pizza Hut will be replaced by a mixed development, which includes 61 apartments, Good Food reported.

The building hasn’t operated as a Pizza Hut since 1999 and has since worked as several other businesses.  

Famous radio duo Kyle and Jackie O shared the post to their Instagram.

Users were quick to share comment over the sad news.

‘A little piece of me just died inside,’ wrote one person. 

‘Omg the memories destroyed..oh and the smell of pizza at night,’ another commented. 

Another person simply commented what every pizza lover was thinking: ‘National treasure.’
