An Aldi ‘special buys’ sale item was pulled on Wednesday due to Australia’s strict border control.
Shoppers hoping to scoop a bargain $69 wooden side table were left devastated when the item wasn’t available in the supermarket chain’s stores.
However, Aldi said it was unable to sell the product due to an issue with Australian Quarantine.

An Aldi spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia there was a ‘production issue’ that needs to be resolved before it can be sold in Australia.
‘We can confirm that the Natural Wood Side Table was not sold on Wednesday 11th July due to a production issue in relation to Australian Quarantine,’ the spokesperson said.
‘The product needs to undergo further treatment before it is sold in ALDI stores.’
The Natural Wood Side Table was due to appear in Australian stores for $69 as part of the popular Aldi sale – held every Saturday and Wednesday.

Customers had been looking forward to the retailer’s budget-friendly remake of a similar-looking item by Australian designer Mark Tuckey, normally priced at $550.
Failing to meet import conditions for timber, wooden and bamboo products can result in delays, the Federal Department of Agriculture and Water states on its website.
‘It is the responsibility of importers to ensure that their products meet the import conditions,’ the website states.
‘Failing to meet import conditions may result in delays, additional costs, and, in some cases, the re-export or destruction of the goods at the importers expense.’
The German powerhouse apologised for any inconvenience caused in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Several shoppers took to social media to say they would be back waiting at Aldi when the item is available.
‘I’ll be back and waiting when the doors open when it’s restocked,’ a shopper wrote.
Others agreed, writing: ‘I just saw this – omg was going to go at 8am tomorrow for it,’.
‘They have done so much PR about this item, I’m dying,’ another person said.
