Andrew Bice, 34, mugshot. He died from a self-inflicted wound to the head in June

An autopsy for a Texas criminal revealed that he had opiates in his system when he shot dead two officers in June.

The drugs found in 34-year-old Andrew Bice’s system included codeine and morphine.

It has also been revealed that Bice had a tattoo on his wrist of a tombstone that said: ‘RIP COPS’.

Officer Miguel Moreno, a nine-year veteran of the police force, was shot in the head during the encounter with Bice.

He was kept on life support but taken off and died on Friday, June 30.

The officer wanted to talk with him about a vehicle break-in.

Bice also shot his partner, Officer Julio Cavazos, in the chin as they stepped out of their patrol car but Cavazos returned fire and hit Bice in the butt.

Officer Julio Cavazos recovered after many surgeries.

The autopsy said Bice died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He died later that day at University Hospital in San Antonio.
