In late April, the pair released a stripped down visual for the acoustic version of the emotional ballad.

Speaking to People, Lavigne gushed about the song and about her partner in the recording studio.

‘He’s an incredible artist and producer,’ she said of Mod Sun, whose real name is Derek Ryan Smith. ‘This is the first of many. Proud of what we made with Flames.’

She went on: ‘Flames is a very special song, I love how the acoustic version turned out. It really brings another layer of emotion to the song.’

The visual, released on YouTube, showed the rock duo seated near one another, with back up singers positioned behind them.

Avril strummed her guitar and sang, while Mod Sun solely focused on vocals.

Meanwhile, there’s no release date yet for Lavigne’s new album although it’s expected to drop sometime this summer.
