Awkward moment an ABC newsreader chastises her hairstylist

‘Are you kidding?’ Awkward moment an ABC newsreader snaps at her hairstylist who is caught trying to smooth reader’s locks live on air

  • An ABC newsreader has been caught on camera snapping at her hairstylist
  • The hairstylist was touching up Tamara Oudyn’s mane when the ad break ended
  • She realised her mistake a little too late and attempts to duck and run but fails

This is the awkward moment an ABC newsreader snaps at her hairstylist live on air for crashing her segment.

Melbourne-based presenter Tamara Oudyn was preparing to read the news last week when the stylist rushed on set to touch up her hair.

As the hairstylist sprayed and shaped the hair, the ad break ended early and she was still in the shot.

‘Can you jump out please?’ Ms Oudyn says. ‘Jump out, hurry’.

The stylist realised her mistake a little too late, ducked, grabbed her gear and ran off the stage.

‘Are you kidding,’ Ms Oudyn says to the camera before launching into talking about British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Ms Oudyn has explained her reaction to the incident on twitter.

‘We went to air a minute earlier than we’d prepared for. I thought perhaps the director was trying to give us a scare. Hence ‘are you kidding?”’ she said.

Ms Oudyn replaced Ian Henderson earlier this year on ABC Victoria’s 7pm news bulletins slot.

Other news readers have praised Ms Oudyn for her handling of the blooper.

Former ABC presenter Natasha Exelby took to twitter to share her admiration over how Ms Oudyn recovered from the blunder.

‘That recovery was impeccable and the makeup deserves a promotion…. her reaction was catlike.’

Ms Exelby made headlines last year when she was caught daydreaming on ABC News 24.

The started reporter jumps in her seat, letting out a gasp, before introducing the sports section.
