A baby has died in hospital after being found ‘unresponsive’ following a major emergency service response at a home in Sydney’s west. 

Emergency services were called to Whalan, 45km west of Sydney’s CBD, at about 10am on Monday following a ‘concern for welfare’ report relating to an infant. 

Several police vehicles and ambulance crews rushed to the Goroka Street home, where paramedics found the infant ‘unresponsive’. 

Paramedics treated the child at the scene before rushing the infant to hospital, but the they died in hospital a short time later. 

Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death. 

‘An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has begun, ‘ NSW Police said.

‘However, is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be prepared for the coroner.’
