Baby girl is saved after being ‘thrown into a filthy courtyard over a 6ft tall wall’

A newborn girl has been found and saved after being left abandoned naked at a rubbish-filled courtyard with her umbilical cord still attached in China.

The baby is believed to have been thrown into the courtyard over a six-foot-tall wall moments after she was born, according to media reports.

She is said to have suffered a fractured skull as well as bleeding inside the skull.

Police have set up a case of for abandonment and are urging the baby’s parents to turn themselves in.

The baby was found lying next to her mother’s placenta in the dirty shaft on Friday, which was the International Children’s Day. 

She was first discovered by residents of Xiade Village in Fuzhou City’s Mawei District in East China’s Fujian Province, according a police statement.

Some web users claimed that the courtyard was a disused fish pond and its wall was about two metres (6.5 feet) tall.

The claim that the baby had been thrown into the courtyard over the wall has not been confirmed by the police.

Villagers called the police who contacted the nearby Fuzhou Mawei Hospital, whose paramedics took the girl in for treatment. 

The infant was then transferred to the No.1 Hospital of Fuzhou for further treatment. 

The No.1 Hospital of Fuzhou said the infant had a fractured skull and bleeding within the skull, according to Kan Kan News.

A doctor from the hospital told Kan Kan News that when the baby was sent to them, her limbs were twitching and there were bruises around her mouth.

The doctor said after treatment, the baby’s condition had stabilised.  

According to the report, many people have gone to the hospital to visit the baby after seeing pictures and footage of her on social media.

Apparently, several families have come forward hoping to adopt the girl as their own.

Police have asked members of the public to contact them with any information regarding the girl’s parents, who could face charges for abandoning the child.

Further police investigation is underway.
