This is the moment an adorable baby girl squealed with laughter as her auntie read her a book about a cartoon hippo.

The cute scene was filmed at the baby’s parents’ house in the town of Quemu Quemu in the central Argentine province of La Pampa and the footage was widely shared by local media this week.

The video, which has gone viral, shows Guadalupe, 21, reading Tincho the Hippopotamus to her seven-month-old niece Francisca.

In the clip, little Francisca shows off her gummy smile as she roars with laughter at the reading.

Guadalupe said the video was filmed while the baby’s mother was busy cooking in the kitchen.

She told local media: ‘I went to visit Francisca and to entertain her I started to read Tincho the Hippopotamus to her. 

‘Something caught her eye because she started to laugh out loud. She was like that for about 10 minutes.

‘She is a super nice baby. She is always laughing. She is my older sister’s only daughter.’

Guadalupe, who owns a pastry business, said she has nine other nieces and nephews, but they all live far away.

The other children, aged between two and seven years old, all consider Guadalupe their favourite aunt.

She said: ‘I am the only aunt who does not have children so they take advantage of me. 

‘I just love having fun with them. I have a lot of patience with them.
