But on Saturday’s Nova 96.9 Matt, Sarah and Matty J breakfast show, the 31-year-old revealed he was a victim of catfishing at age 18.

‘Three months of my life I’ll never get back,’ he lamented to his radio co-hosts.

‘Three months I’ll never get back!’ Bachelor star Matty ‘J’ Johnson, 31, revealed on his Nova radio show on Saturday, that he was catfished at age 18

‘When I was 18 I was very naive, I was new to social media. I was friends with a girl called Chloe Piper, beautiful beautiful young lady,’ Matty revealed on-air.

‘We were speaking for about three months and every time we would try to meet up, she would then say, ”actually I’ve just got food poisoning I’m really unwell, I can’t do it, I’m so sorry”, then she moved to another city.’

Matty said the pair had once again tried to meet at a pub in Sydney, but never met, due to the pub being ‘really busy on a Saturday night’.

Matty said of 'Chloe Piper': 'We were speaking for about three months and every time we would try to meet up, she would then say, ''actually I've just got food poisoning I'm really unwell, I can't do it, I'm so sorry''

‘I never got to meet her, three months of my life I’ll never get back,’ the marketing executive told co-hosts Matt de Groot and Sarah McGilvray.

When asked by Matt if he thinks ‘Chloe Piper’ was genuine or a ’45-year-old bloke’ pretending to be a girl, Matty insisted it was ‘definitely’ a female.

‘We would have conversations on the phone so it was definitely a female I think, unless it was a guy doing a really good impression,’ he said.

‘It got to the point where I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if I got an investigator and I just found out who this Chloe Piper really was?’

However unfortunately for Matty he will never get closure, with ‘Chloe Piper’ deleting her social media accounts.

Meanwhile this isn’t the first time an Australian celebrity has been a victim of catfishing.

Former Australian Idol star Casey Donovan, 31, was tricked by her friend into falling in love with ‘boyfriend’ Campbell when she was 16 years old in 2005.

The man, however, did not exist and was masterminded by her so-called best friend Olga. Casey only spoke to ‘Campbell’ over the phone or online.

For six years Olga catfished Casey, until the star’s manager Jason grew suspicious and Olga’s lies were finally revealed.
