BAE Systems awarded £135m contract for work on Eurofighter Typhoon jets

BAE Systems has been awarded a £135m contract for work on the Eurofighter Typhoon jets. 

The work will involve improving the aircraft’s defensive systems and making data sharing more secure.

The contract is part of ongoing efforts by the Eurofighter consortium and the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany to continue developing the Typhoon fighter’s technology. 

The Typhoon programme employs more than 5,000 at BAE Systems, many in Lancashire, and supports a further 10,000 jobs across the economy. 

The contract will sustain 100 highly skilled engineering jobs. 

Shares, however, fell 0.3 per cent, or 1.6p, to 574.8p.
