Bah humbug! Trump CANCELS the traditional White House Christmas Party for the press after a year of ‘fake news’ accusations and bitter legal battle with CNN after banning Jim Acosta

  • Annual event gave the press corps a chance to dine in the White House
  • Last year, Mr Trump held the party but refused to pose for photos
  • Now the event has been cancelled altogether, according to reports

Donald Trump has reportedly cancelled the White House Christmas party for journalists.

The annual event gave members of the press corps a chance to dine in the White House, wander around the mansion and take photos with the president and first lady.

Last year, Mr Trump held the party but refused to pose for photos and CNN boycotted the event ‘in light of the president’s continued attacks on freedom of the press’.

Now the event has been cancelled altogether, reports Fox News.

Mr Trump has attacked the media throughout his time in office, calling the press ‘dishonest, ‘lying’ and slinging accusations of ‘fake news’.

In November CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta was denied access to the White House after getting into a heated shouting match with President Donald Trump and pulling a mic away from a female aide at a press conference.

A Secret Service agent denied Acosta entry to the White House grounds and revoked his ‘hard pass’, the long-term press pass issued to the White House press corps.

Acosta was given his pass back after CNN filed a lawsuit.

The White House has not officially announced the party cancellation.
