A scorned woman posted a topless photo of her ex-boyfriend’s new partner online after trying to extort a $5,200 ransom out of her.

Stacey Burton, 22, flew into a jealous rage after the father of one of her two children, Codie Carter, moved on with another woman.

The young woman from Ballarat in country Victoria sent a message to the new girlfriend with the warning that her friends would see ‘more than your ugly f**kin’ head’ on Snapchat.

‘Give me my money back that Codie owes me,’ Burton also wrote.

Burton followed through with her threat in October 2019, but thought better of it and deleted the post half an hour later – but it was too late.

Within that time, several people took screenshots of the post and shared it across the internet, humiliating the victim, the Victorian County Court heard on Thursday.

Police caught up with her in January 2020 and she admitted in an interview her actions probably made the victim ‘feel like s**t’, the Ballarat News reported.

But Burton was not done with her vendetta and in late 2020 sent the woman abusive messages, including 35 on one day, through Facebook and Instagram.

In one message, she called the victim a ‘mutt’ alongside a photo of her and Mr Carter.

‘Congratulations you win,’ she said next to an image she sent in a later message.

In her victim impact statement, the new girlfriend said Burton blamed her for the relationship breakdown with Mr Carter.

‘We have never met but she seems to blame me for everything that went wrong with the father of her children,’ the victim said.

‘I live in fear someone will see my pictures and recognise me and I will be humiliated again, it fills me with shame and embarrassment.’

Judge Mark Gamble said Burton’s actions were vindictive and her serious threat was planned.

Burton pleaded guilty to making an unwarranted demand with menace and intentionally distributing an intimate image. She will be sentenced at a later date.
