A skincare expert has revealed her easy DIY method to check your skin type at home instead of paying hundreds to get your complexion professionally analysed.
Elle McNamara, a British skin specialist who runs the page Bambi Does Beauty, revealed the cost-free trick to her thousands of followers.
The 32-year-old explained that checking how your skin feels 30 minutes after applying cleanser indicates which of the four skin types you have.

‘This skincare tip won’t cost you any more money. There’s one really easy trick to work out your skin type,’ she said in her tutorial.
Elle explained that evaluating whether your skin feels tight, rough, oily, or a combination of those options after cleansing reveals whether you have dehydrated, dry, oily or combination skin.
‘Cleanse your skin as normal and then leave it for a half an hour,’ she instructed.
‘If it feels tight you’ve got dehydrated skin, if it feels rough to the touch and scaly you’ve got dry skin, if it looks shiny and feels oily you’ve got oily skin, and if it’s a mixture of any of those then you’ve got combination skin.’
The skin expert explained that some skin will react within ten minutes rather than 30, for example dehydrated skin will feel tight very quickly.

Knowing your skin type lets you create make more tailored and effective skincare routine using skin specific product.

Previously, she revealed a cheap hack to get rid of under the skin bumps on forehead using a budget product that is ‘probably already in your bathroom.’
She advised using anti-dandruff shampoo for these type of spots, which are usually fungal acne.
Elle applies the shampoo as a mask to her forehead daily, leaves it on for ten minutes and then rinses it off.
Her fans were extremely enthusiastic about the budget trick.
‘I’ve tried this and can confirm it did work for fungal acne! Nothing else I tried worked, then I read about this,’ one woman said.
