Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Memphis Depay on a free transfer this summer.

Depay, who scored his first goal of Euro 2020 during the Netherland’s  2-0 win over Austria, has sign a contract with the Catalan giants until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

Depay is the latest player to arrive at the Nou Camp this summer after former Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia agreed terms with the club.

However, Barca boss Ronald Koeman did miss out on signing fellow Dutchman Georginio Wijnaldum after he was released by Liverpool, the 30-year-old opted to join Paris Saint-Germain on a three year deal instead.

Nevertheless, Depay had been continually linked with a move to Barcelona and will now officially reunite with former Netherlands boss Koeman.

The former PSV and Manchester United player was crucial part of the Netherlands squad under Koeman and scored 11 times in the 18 matches for the national side.

He also helped restore faith in the Dutch side after their unsuccessful Euro 2016 and 2018 World Cup qualifying campaigns.

Depay confirmed earlier this week that a deal was close to being completed and called for patience, ahead of the announcement.

‘Everyone knows that I have been negotiating with Barcelona for a long time and that my dream is to play for Ronald Koeman,’ Depay said. ‘Just wait, and then the news will come.’
