Cash-strapped Barcelona plan to drop on-loan wonderkid Yusuf Demir for SIX WEEKS to dodge triggering an £8.5m contract clause, which forces them to sign him if he plays 10 games, before January
- Barcelona will have to pay Rapid Vienna £8.5m if Yusuf Demir plays 10 games
- Since joining on loan in the summer, 18-year-old has already played nine times
- Barca have curiously wasted three of those appearances on just 15 minutes
Barcelona will avoid playing wonderkid Yusuf Demir until February due to contract issues surrounding his playing appearances.
The 18-year-old is currently on loan at the Nou Camp from Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna.
But part of his deal involves Barcelona having to pay Rapid £8.5million for a permanent transfer if he plays 10 games.
Barcelona are likely to avoid playing Yusuf Demir until February due to contractual issues
Across the Champions League and LaLiga, the winger has already appeared nine times and another appearance would trigger the fee.
Although Demir has impressed so far at the Nou Camp, the cash strapped club are keen to avoid having to pay the fee before the end of the January transfer window according to Sky Sport Germany.
Barca would rather the fee is deducted from next summer’s budget and that means Demir will have to drop out of the first-team for at least the next six weeks.
Barca have curiously wasted the opportunities to use Demir, with a third of his appearances resulting in just 15 minutes of football.

He featured in a nine-minute cameo in the 3-0 win over Levante back in September, and then played just two minutes in a 1-0 win over Espanyol in November.
Even more bizarrely, Barca wasted their penultimate ‘free’ appearance last week when they brought him on for four minutes in the 3-0 Champions League hammering at Bayern Munich.
Despite their financial worries, Barca are still holding ambitious moves in the transfer market having reportedly met with agent Mino Raiola in an Italian hotel, bringing links with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Meanwhile, current striker Sergio Aguero will hold a press conference concerning his future on Wednesday after suffering a heart problem on his Barca debut last month which forced him to be substituted.
