Barnaby Joyce misses deadline to declare Vikki Campion as new partner

New revelations in the Barnaby Joyce saga have revealed he failed to list his pregnant girlfriend Vikki Campion as a family member within the 28-day deadline. 

Currently Mr Joyce’s estranged wife Natalie is still listed as his spouse on the parliamentary register, The Daily Telegraph reported.

If a member of parliament fails to update their register when circumstances change, they risk being found in contempt of parliament, mainly declaring the financial interests of their spouse. 

It was only after queries were made by The Daily Telegraph that Mr Joyce made moves to update the register, long after the 28-day deadline. 

Ms Campion is shown on the register as owning a house in Canberra and Mr Joyce has also altered the entry that outlined the ‘gift’ of a rental property. 

Real Estate agents described the property as the most superior residential project for the Armidale area. 

The property was ‘gifted’ to Mr Joyce and Ms Campion by a multi-millionaire businessman, but Mr Joyce has now moved out.

The register, which is public, includes MP details such as gifts, income, loans, trust funds and real estate. 

 The register is designed to function as a tool of transparency to avoid any potential conflicts of interest for members of parliament. 

Mr Joyce said in February that Ms Campion was his new partner ‘without a shadow of a doubt’.
