Barnaby Joyce resigns and baffles web

Barnaby Joyce has baffled the country with his references to ‘the people in the weatherboard and iron’ as he announced his resignation.

The Deputy Prime Minister quit on Friday afternoon after a tumultuous fortnight of allegations and revelations of his love child scandal.

‘This is never about me. It’s about the person in the weatherboard and iron, something that manifestly expressed what the National Party is about,’ he said.

Mr Joyce’s press conference sent social media into meltdown, with thousands misinterpreting his references to his rural constituents.

‘Lest we forget the weatherboard nine,’ another commented, while yet another wrote: ‘Free the weatherboard nine’.

‘An odd, somewhat disjointed address. Still to find out what the hell “the weatherboard nine” refers to,’ one comment read.

The former Nationals leader arrived to meet reporters in Armidale at 2pm on Friday to announce his resignation.
