Barnsley vs Burton postponed as air ambulance lands on the pitch due to a ‘medical emergency’

The League One clash between Barnsley and Burton had to be postponed after a fan fell ill at the ground and an air ambulance had to land on the pitch at the Oakwell Stadium.
Both sets of players had been out to warm-up and were preparing to get the game under way at the scheduled 3pm kick-off time, but were sent back to their dressing rooms.
At 3:30pm an air ambulance landed inside the ground and officials were forced to call the match off.
The air ambulance eventually lifted the unwell man away at approximately 4:00pm.
Barnsley tweeted: ‘Due to the circumstances the match has been postponed. Barnsley Football Club will look to provide further update when appropriate to do so.’
Burton also provided a message of their own: ‘It has been announced here at Oakwell that, due to a medical emergency, today’s game between Barnsley and Burton Albion has been postponed.’
