This is the horrific moment a base jumper comes frightfully close to potential death.

A video has emerged of a jumper, known only by the name of Karl, attempting a base jump from Monte Brento near Trento, Italy. 

Karl stands at the edge of the mountain at the start of the video with a camera attached to his head. 

He takes the plunge after a matter of just seconds and confidently begins the jump by doing a mid-air flip.

After hurtling through the air for eight seconds he pulls on his parachute, however it soon becomes clear that something is wrong. 

Karl yanks on the parachute cords numerous times, however it does not fully deploy. 

Panic quickly sets in and he he starts to yell ‘no!’ repeatedly. 

The cause of the issue was reportedly tension knots, which kept his canopy from properly releasing. 

However, when Karl tries to pull the parachute open it does not deploy properly and he hurtles toward the side of the mountain

Karl continues to plunge toward the side of the mountain, causing him to yell and grunt in fear.

After some time he was airlifted off the mountain and taken to a hospital. He was treated for a broken tibia plateau on his right leg and minor cuts and scrapes on his hands.
