Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada sues her former publicist

Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada has sued her former publicist, claiming she defamed her by spreading lies so her co-stars would accuse her of domestic abuse on national television.

Lozada filed a lawsuit against Danika Berry over comments that the former publicist allegedly made about the reality star and her ex-husband, retired Miami Dolphins star Chad Johnson, according to The Blast.

Lozada and Johnson divorced in 2012 after the NFL player was arrested for allegedly assaulting her.

Johnson was arrested on August 12, 2012, just five weeks after the couple were married. Lozada filed for divorce on August 14, 2012.

Johnson entered a plea of no contest to misdemeanor domestic battery in September 2012 and avoided jail time.

Since the incident, Lozada has been a vocal activist working with victims of domestic violence.

But the reality star claims that after having a fallout with Berry, the former publicist allegedly told a reporter that Lozada was having sex with an unnamed New Orleans music mogul while she and Johnson were still married.

The claim was published on The Shade Room in February 2018, forcing Lozada to send a cease and desist letter to Berry.

Lozada claims that after that incident, Berry defamed her to several people in the entertainment industry.

Lozada claims that after having a fallout with Berry (pictured center with NBA players Rony Turiaf and DJ Mbenga in 2008), the former publicist allegedly told people including fellow Basketball Wives star Tami Roman that Lozada was the aggressor in the domestic dispute with Johnson, according to legal documents

Despite the cease and desist letter, Berry told fellow Basketball Wives star Tami Roman that Lozada was the aggressor in the domestic dispute with Johnson, according to legal documents.

Berry also told the same claim to a third party, court documents say, which Lozada calls ‘reckless disregard’ for the statement’s truth.

‘Barry made the statement to Roman with the intent of having her accuse Lozada of domestic violence on national television during a broadcast of ‘Basketball Wives’,’ the reality star claims in court documents.

Lozada is suing for unspecified damages ‘in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest, and attorney’s fees’.

A representative for Berry told The Blast: ‘She has no knowledge of the lawsuit or the allegations within it. She is not a viewer of the show and is not aware of any storylines.’
