BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt begs for a part in Death In Paradise 

BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt says he’s prepared to die for a role in hit whodunnit Death In Paradise. 

‘I’d love a part — perhaps as a killer… or even a corpse! ’admits Charlie, who has a little screen experience, having appeared as himself in Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day Actually in 2017. 

The presenter will have to be patient, however. 

Casting has already taken place for the next nine episodes with Les Dennis, Robert Webb, Derry Girl’s Siobhan McSweeney and Cara Theobold (maid Ivy Stuart in Downton Abbey) among those about to be caught up in tragic events in the Caribbean.

Barney Walsh has also signed on to star in the Death In Paradise Christmas special.  

The 24-year-old will be best know to viewers for starring alongside his famous father in Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, but has been looking into doing more acting work.

The Christmas special will centre around Coronation Street’s Les Dennis and Derry Girls’ Siobhan McSweeney as they join the BBC crime drama for its second festive feature-length special. 

Death in Paradise series regulars Ralf Little (D.I Neville Parker), Don Warrington (Commissioner Selwyn Patterson), Élizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey) Tahj Miles (Officer Marlon Pryce), Shantol Jackson (D.S Naomi Thomas) and Ginny Holder (Darlene Curtis) will also return.    

The end of last series saw Selwyn hit with a bombshell from the blue, leaving fans eager to see how the Commissioner will come to terms with the knowledge that he has a daughter.

The Special will see Christmas in Saint Marie take a spooky turn when an old case of Selwyn’s comes back to haunt him following the murder of a true crime podcaster on the hunt for a missing child. 

The new series kicks off with the mysterious death of a celebrity astronomer and a change of job for Darlene. 

Meanwhile, Marlon is forced to spend the night in a haunted house and Darlene takes a hard look at her life choices. And after a chance encounter in an airport car park, could love finally be in the air for Neville Parker?

Meanwhile, Bradley made his acting debut last year in the debut episode of his dad’s show The Larkins – sparking delight among viewers.

The ITV sitcom, based upon the retro series The Darling Buds of May, follows a working-class family living in 1950s Kent – with The Chase star, 61, taking centre stage as Pop. 

The Breaking Dad star made his unforeseen entrance after Mariette (played by Sabrina Bartlett) and her sister Primrose (Lydia Paige) asked a nearby police officer for help in finding a young man.
