Social media users were quick to lash out at the ‘un-Australian’ menu charge.

‘That’s just un Australian, they charge extra … For salt. Seriously. They charge for salt,’ one commenter wrote.

‘Hey I live near there! I’ll bring my pitchfork on behalf of everyone who can’t,’ another added.

The picture has already been viewed a staggering 168,000 times with many users adding their two cents, or in this case 20 cents, to the argument.

‘That’s a bl***y outrage it is,’ another user wrote.

‘I’m calling Tracy Grimshaw,’ another added in reference to A Current Affair’s host.

'Oh that's it. Time for the people's revolution,' one Reddit user wrote in response to the post

However cafe owners reached out to news.com.au to clarify any confusion about the added price for chicken salt.

‘We do not charge our customers for chicken salt,’ a spokesman for the cafe claimed to news.com.au, despite the charge coming under the ‘chips’ headline.

The spokesman claimed the charge was introduced for patrons who would enter the cafe to ask for chicken salt to be added to meals they had purchased elsewhere.
